MATTOON PLACES MORATORIUM ON AMBULANCE SERVICE APPLICATIONS
The Mattoon City Council votes unanimously to make Mitchell-Jerdan the only ambulance service in town and that's caused some frustration within the community. Residents packed city hall Tuesday night to voice their concerns, but the council was quick to remind people of current budgetary problems in Mattoon.

EFFINGHAM ELECTS FORMER POLICE CHIEF MIKE SCHUTZBACH AS NEW MAYOR
From serving as a police chief to serving the city as Mayor Mike Schutzbach will now take office in Effingham. Schutzbach beat out local attorney Scott Ealy and incumbent mayor Jeff Bloemker, doubling their combined totals in the race, as the community calls for some change in this year's consolidated election.
